Box Score Game One

Box Score Game Two

BLOOMSBURG-- Lacy Mauro (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) hit a grand slam in game one and Lori Neyhard (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) hit a three-run shot in game two to lead the Bloomsburg University softball team to a sweep of a doubleheader with Slippery Rock on Saturday by scores of 5-1 and 8-0.

In the opener the Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI single by Mandy Koch (Dauphin/Central Dauphin). The game stayed that way to the bottom of the sixth when Bloomsburg loaded the bases with two outs for Mauro who drove the ball deep over the left field fence. Pitcher Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) allowed a solo homer in the seventh, but that would be all the scoring for The Rock. Reed finished 10 strikeouts and allowed just two hits in the game.

In game two, the Huskies and SRU were scoreless going into the bottom of the third inning. In the bottom of the third the Huskies collected five hits and took advantage of two Slippery Rock errors to score six times. Danielle Lazorka (Williamsport/Jersey Shore) and Mauro had RBI hits in the inning, but the big blow was a three-run homer by Neyhard to break open the game. The Huskies won the game on the mercy rule in the bottom of the sixth inning when Lazorka had a sacrifice fly RBI and Mauro an RBI single that ended the game. Mauro finished 2-4 with two RBI in the game. Shauvaun Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) earned the win striking out 11 and scattering six hits.

Bloomsburg, now 17-3, will play at Holy Family on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Slippery Rock falls to 13-13 with the two losses.
